1. What this is
Tiles runs web applications for you on Google Cloud. You give Tiles source code — from a repository you connect, or an upload — and Tiles builds it, starts it, and serves it at an address. “The Service” means that, and the console and API around it, at app.ai-tiles.com and the addresses Tiles serves apps from.
These terms are between you (the “Customer”) and Lucas Arano, who operates Tiles from Atlanta, Georgia, USA (“Tiles”, “the operator”). If you accept them on behalf of a company, you say you may.
2. Your account
You sign in with Google, or with a one-time link or code Tiles sends to your email address. Tiles has no password of its own and cannot reset one: whoever can read your mailbox, or use your Google account, can sign in as you. You are responsible for who can sign in to your organization and for what they do there — including anybody you invite by email, and anybody you share an app with.
Anyone may create an organization. Each person may make one app without paying; what more costs is stated in the console (section 5).
You may delete your account at any time, from Settings in the Tiles iPhone app or the Plan page in the console. Deleting it deletes the organizations only you use, with their apps and databases, takes you off every other organization and app, and ends every sign-in. It cannot be undone.
3. Your apps are yours, and they are your responsibility
Tiles does not review, approve or endorse anything you deploy. What your app does, what it stores, who it serves and what it says are yours. In particular:
- If you open an app to anyone with the link, anyone with that address can use everything the app does, with no sign-in. There is no password on such an app and no record of who visited. That is a deliberate property, described where you turn it on, and choosing it is your decision.
- If your app processes other people’s personal data, you are its controller and the operator is a processor acting on your instructions. You are the one who needs a lawful basis, a privacy notice and a way to answer the people whose data it is.
4. Acceptable use
You may not use the Service, and may not deploy an app that:
- distributes malware, ransomware, exploit kits or credential stealers
- runs a phishing page, or impersonates a person, company or government
- mines cryptocurrency, or runs any workload whose purpose is to consume compute for its own sake
- operates an open proxy, VPN exit, anonymizing relay or traffic-laundering service
- sends bulk unsolicited email or messages, or supports a service that does
- attacks anything — port scanning, credential stuffing, denial of service, vulnerability scanning of systems you do not own
- hosts child sexual abuse material, or content that is illegal where the Service runs
- harasses, threatens, bullies or abuses anyone, or attacks people for who they are
- shows sexually explicit, violent or otherwise objectionable content to people who have not asked to see it
- attempts to reach another customer’s data, another customer’s workload, or the control plane’s own credentials
Tiles has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Anyone can report an app, or a note on one — with Report in the Tiles iPhone app, or by email to abuse@ai-tiles.com — and Tiles acts on every report within 24 hours: it removes content that breaks this section and suspends whoever put it there.
Tiles brokers outbound calls that use keys you give it and records the paths they took. That record is evidence of what passed through Tiles; it is not a promise that Tiles inspects, filters or understands what your app does.
5. Plans, money and suspension
Plans, what each includes, and what each costs are stated in the console and are the same numbers the platform enforces. Payment is taken by Stripe; Tiles never sees a card.
- Trial. A trial begins when you add a card at Stripe Checkout and lasts 14 days. Nothing is charged during it. Unless you cancel before it ends, the plan you chose begins and the card is charged.
- A plan is billed monthly in advance. Changing the number of always-on services or builder seats changes the subscription, and Stripe prorates the change.
- Tax. Prices exclude tax. Where Tiles is registered to collect sales tax, VAT or GST, Stripe calculates it from your billing address and adds it at checkout.
- Non-payment. A failed payment does not stop anything immediately. A plan that ends — cancelled, or a trial that ran out — stops the apps you have published and releases the always-on services they held. Nothing is deleted, and paying again brings back exactly what stopped.
- Abuse. The operator may suspend an organization or an app that breaks section 4, without notice where the harm is ongoing, and will say what rule was broken.
- A plan includes a monthly compute allowance. An organization that uses it up is paused until the next month rather than billed for more.
6. What Tiles does not promise
The Service is provided as it is. There is no uptime commitment, no support response time, and no warranty of any kind, express or implied, except any that cannot be excluded by law.
The operator is not liable for lost profits, lost data, or indirect or consequential loss. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what you paid in the twelve months before the claim.
Back up your own data. Tiles stores your source and runs your databases, and it takes the backups its cloud provider takes, but a platform is not a backup strategy.
7. Ending it
You may stop at any time. Deleting your organization is in the console, on the Plan page: delete your apps, tear down your spaces, cancel your subscription, and type the organization’s name. That releases the cloud resources, ends every session and revokes every token.
Records of what happened — the audit trail — are kept after deletion, because an audit trail that can be deleted by the person it is about is not one. The Privacy Policy says what that means for personal data.
The operator may end an organization for a breach of section 4 or for non-payment after notice.
8. Changes
The operator may change these terms. Material changes will be said before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that is acceptance.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute is heard in the state or federal courts located in Fulton County, Georgia, and you and the operator consent to that venue. Nothing here takes away a right that the consumer law of your own country says cannot be taken away.
